We offer membership to SACAP registered candidate and professional architects.

Architects apply through our Region for both regional and SAIA (national) membership.  Please see more details below.

SAIA Member Structure

Individual Membership Fees:

Our financial year is from 01 July to 30 June and individual membership to SAIA Free State/SAIA works accordingly (however not necessary to re-apply every year if in good standing with the Institute and fees are up to date).  We are currently in the 2018/2019 (01 July 2018 to 30 June 2019) financial year.  Please contact our offices for membership fees applicable to each category of membership. 

The full amount is payable to SAIA Free State and will be transferred to SAIA once the fees have been received.
Individual membership fees are payable from month of when application is received (if not for a full year then it will be calculated on a pro-rata basis).  Refer to “with effect date” on application form where you need to indicate from which month you wish to become a member .

No application fee is payable by new members who were not previously enrolled by SAIA Free State/SAIA.  If a member was enrolled and resigned and more than two years have gone by, the member will then be re-enrolled with a new number (if no previous outstanding fees are due) and a R300,00 re-enrolment fee is also payable.  If a members wants to be reinstated and it is less than two years since resignation, the member will be reinstated as a member (with the same membership number previously issued) once all outstanding fees for the two years has been received. 

Practice Levies:
Practice levies (applicable to professional architects who have their own practices) are payable directly to SAIA, calculated according to size of practice etc. (refer to SAIA Benefits Framework and practice application form hereto attached).  SAIA will issue members with an invoice and practice declaration form.
